At first I developed a course for beginners to make a classic 8 bit Pong game on Pico8. Once the course was finished I decided to add bonuses and various original maluses as for an Arkanoid. (ball replaced by a golden bird named Tweetie, reduction or increase in the size of the rackets, inversion of the keys, temporary shield, inertia and variable speeds..). It worked well. I drew all the sprites and tested with SpriteShow and then I coded the movement types of the bonuses and maluses using sines and cosines to form spirals or curves. To improve the aesthetics of the game I needed a program of particles following the displacements. It was on Lexaloffle that I found the routines written by Jessica @jessica8D_ who was kind enough for me to use them. <span class="ryNqvb" <the="" background="" of="" the="" game="" being="" black="" i="" looked="" for="" how="" to="" fill="" it.<="" span=""> I'm a fan of Tweetcarts which are technically coding exploits and sometimes magnificent (VonRostock, Lucatron) I tried to integrate them into my game. This required me to adapt them by modifying them as little as possible.</span> It sometimes worked, other times it failed (game slowed down by calculations or routines not using any screen refresh, sometimes misunderstanding on my part of the code etc...) Finally I managed to integrate 22 tweetcarts of 19 different encoders. Aesthetically it improved the game a lot. Moreover I was able to make some of these Tweetcarts interact with Tweetie by adding additional routines. I added intermediate screens where the authors of tweetcarts are credited. I made some GIFs that I sent on Tweeter to all the coders concerned to ask for their opinion. Some encouraged me, no one showed their displeasure. And that's how I published TweetiePong on Lexaloffle and on Itch.Io.
